Playing With / Truncated Theme Tune

Go To

Basic Trope: A show's Theme Tune is shortened when it plays before an episode or after its Cold Open.

  • Straight: The Tropeman Show's Theme Tune is normally about 45 seconds long. In some episodes, it is shortened to 20 seconds.
  • Exaggerated: The song is 5 seconds long in every episode besides the pilot.
  • Downplayed: The song is 35 seconds long in a few select episodes.
  • Justified:
    • The song needs to be shortened to fit the allotted episode airtime.
    • The happy verses are too dissonant for the episode's mood.
    • It irreverently reflects the length of the shorts that comprise the episode.
  • Inverted: The song is normally played in 20-second shortened form, but some episodes play the full song.
