Go To

Basic Trope: An emotionless person has an unnaturally clean bedroom with few or no personal possessions.

  • Straight: Alice’s room only has a bed, drawers, lamp, desk, and chair.
  • Exaggerated: Alice’s room only has a bed, a lamp, and nothing else.
  • Downplayed: Alice’s room has almost no personal items besides a couple of stuffed animals on the bed and a family photo on the desk.
  • Justified:
    • Alice is a Robot Girl who can't feel emotions.
    • Alice is a very practical-minded person who doesn't seen the point of putting knick-knacks and junk everywhere in her bedroom.
  • Subverted: Alice keeps photos of her family and friends hidden in a secret compartment in her desk.
  • Double Subverted: ...which are stored there not to keep them safe, but because she doesn’t care about those photos and wants to forget about them.
  • Inverted: Alice’s room is a complete mess from top to bottom.
  • Parodied: Alice has a Heroic BSoD when her mother tries to persuade her to get yellow curtains for her window instead of grey ones.
  • Averted: Alice decorates her bedroom normally.
  • Defied: Even though Alice doesn’t have a particular taste in decoration, she tries to make her room look nice anyway.
  • Zig-Zagged: Alice’s room is either a complete disaster or impeccably clean depending on what her mood is during the week.
  • Enforced: To show that Alice lacks the emotions of a normal person.
  • Lampshaded: “Geez, it feels like a hospital room in here.”
  • Discussed: “Alice is so emotionless. Probably even her bedroom is boring.”
  • Conversed: “I’ve seen this before. The main character’s bedroom is empty to show that she feels empty, and then when she starts making friends she’ll decorate her room to show her personality change.”
  • Invoked: Alice’s creator programs her to have no personal wants of her own and to always pick the most Boring, but Practical option for anything.
  • Exploited: Claire makes “friends” with Alice and uses her room as a place to store illegal drugs because nobody ever goes in there.
  • Played for laughs: ???
  • Played for drama: ???
  • Played for horror: ???
  • Implied: When grocery shopping with her friends, Alice turns down all offers to get some decorations for her room.
  • Deconstructed: ???
  • Reconstructed: ???

Go back to Soulless Bedroom. There's not much there, but it's nice, I guess...
