Basic Trope: An extravagant mansion used as the setting for a Reality Show or a Music Video.

  • Straight: Contestants on World's Most Beautiful Woman (an extended Beauty Contest) reside for the duration of the show in an extravagant mansion, with a large swimming pool, a world-class team of chefs to prepare meals, maids to clean the place, a fitness center, a spa, a confession cam, and a private suite for each of the contestants, at least until they get Voted Off the Island and return home.
  • Exaggerated:
    • Several Reality Shows and Glam Rap videos, plus a scene from a movie, are filmed at the same mansion.
    • Filming takes place while the owner(s) of the house are actually there.
    • The contestants have an entire fancy resort to themselves.
  • Downplayed: The reality show is shot in the nicest house in a middle class neighborhood.
  • Justified: It provides incentive for people to enter the contests and competitions.
  • Inverted: Contestants on Survival: Farside Island stay in tents or makeshift shelters.
  • Subverted:
    • Although contestants on World's Most Beautiful Woman meet up at the mansion, they are not housed there.
    • The mansion looks nice, but it's actually falling apart, and there are no maids, chefs, etc.
    • The mansion is a set, only the front of it exists.
  • Double Subverted: They are housed at a five-star hotel (all expenses paid) nearby.
  • Parodied:
    • The winner gets to keep the mansion.
    • The mansion is for the camera crew, judges, etc. The actual contestants have to build shelters in the backyard.
  • Zig Zagged: The first season is filmed in a fancy mansion, season two is filmed in a normal house, season three is filmed in a trailer park, season four is back to the mansion, etc.
  • Averted: World's Most Beautiful Woman is not filmed in a fancy mansion. Nor is it an extended reality show: it's just a normal Beauty Contest.
  • Enforced:
    • "We need to make people want to compete. Let's give them an incentive: world class accommodations!"
    • Someone who works behind the scenes owns the mansion.
  • Lampshaded: ???
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: Contestants work harder to stay in the house longer.
  • Defied: ???
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
