Basic Trope: A character says some final goodbyes before making a Heroic Sacrifice they won't survive.
- Straight: After destroying the castle of the Big Bad the party realize a part of the prophecy they got has yet to be fulfilled, required one to be found in the ruins of it. The all-loving Kyusei decides to do it, saying goodbyes to his Fire-Forged Friends and walking into the dust clouds just as the last pieces fall.
- Exaggerated: Kyusei gets a full Really Dead Montage and a personal moment with each member before he leaves.
- Downplayed: Kyusei walks in before anyone can stop him, but stops partway to say his thanks before he is lost.
- Justified:
- Completing the prophecy will ensure the Big Bad won't rise again, and they can't go against it.
- They don't know if he was actually injured enough to recover, and someone needs to finish the job even if they die in the process.
- Inverted: The team depart with Kyusei before the final battle so someone can still be alive to face him in case they fail to.
- Subverted:
- Kyusei goes in before he anyone can say anything.
- Kyusei tells the others he'd do it, but can't bring himself to commit...
- Kyusei immediately says his goodbye to Kerry... because the latter is the one they chose to do this.
- Kyusei survives somehow.
- Double Subverted:
- He turns back however to tell the others how important they were to him before completing it.
- After the party give him they thanks however he fulfills his sacrifice.
- Seeing there's no other time to the others say their goodbyes as well.
- Averted: Kyusei asks everyone not to worry about him, and walks into the rubble to fulfill the prophecy.
- Enforced: The actor playing fan favorite Kyusei was leaving at the end of the season, so the writers decided to send him out in an honorable way and memorable way, saying some final goodbyes to the others before he gave his life.
