Basic Trope: Beings that exist to inconvenience people.

  • Straight: The Flat Tire Imp is a creature that wanders around looking for cars and other vehicles and amuses itself by puncturing their tires with its sharp claws and fangs.
  • Exaggerated: And let's not even get started on the Eyelash Gnome, the Wart Goblins, the Health Eaters, the Laundry Monster, the Depression Gloop, and all the other entities that cause every misfortune. But worst of all is the Toe Stubber.
  • Downplayed:
  • Justified: In this world, Your Mind Makes It Real, and many people have blamed imaginary beings for their woes, thus, these thoughts take physical form.
  • Inverted: The Grammar Fairy visits wikis around the world and cleans up the grammar.
  • Subverted: The Flat Tire Imp punctures Bob's tire with its claws. Bob has to waste time replacing it... and finds out that the thirty minute delay allowed him to escape a massive wreck.
  • Double Subverted: But that was completely an accident; the imp just did it for kicks.
  • Zig-Zagged:
  • Parodied: The Funny Little Critter is a 2" tall creature that wouldn't feel out of place in an OneyPlays hypothetical.
  • Averted: The Flat Tire Imp doesn't exist.
  • Enforced: Alice tries to make money by being paid to kill the imps.
  • Lampshaded:
Bob: All manner of little bugaboos live in our houses...lots of them like to cause everyday problems.
  • Invoked: Emperor Evulz brainwashes beings so that they will use their powers to cause trouble.
  • Exploited: Bob knows there are creatures that cause everyday issues, so he goes into business helping people appease or chase away these creatures.
  • Defied: ???
  • Discussed:
Bob: "I've been getting flat tires all the time lately. Sometimes I wonder if an imp is doing it."
  • Conversed:
Charles: "I've been getting so many flat tires that I'm half-jokingly wondering if the Flat Tire Imp from that show really exists!"
  • Implied: We always hear high-pitched laughter whenever someone gets a flat tire.
  • Played for Drama: The story focuses on an entity that causes a serious problem, such as prejudice or depression.
  • Played for Horror: SIDS is explained by a demon that kills babies.
