Basic Trope: Powers that simulate, but aren't, flight.
- Straight: Captain Awesome can walk on light, Rainbow Woman can propel herself from the ground with color powers, and Nuke Boy explodes himself into the air.
- Exaggerated: Everyone in the city, even the civilians, can fly in some way.
- Downplayed: Three out of five heroes can fly in three different ways.
- Justified: All the villains fly and conduct all business in the air, so a grounded hero would be rather useless. People who lack flying powers just can't be heroes.
- Inverted:
- All the heroes can use their powers to breathe underwater.
- All the heroes can use their powers to prevent their enemies from flying.
- Subverted: Actually, no one can fly and that was just Anti-Gravity Girl turning the gravity on and off.
- Double Subverted: But they can still fly- they've just never been able to test it out without annoying Anti-Gravity Girl getting in the way.
- Parodied: At hero school, the one thing they focus on is flying with your powers. If you can't do that, no matter how good you are at everything else, you fail and have to scoop Super Dog's poo for the rest of eternity. If you can do that, even if you're a stumblebum who can't find your own butt, you pass with flying colors.

- Lampshaded: "We should change our name to The Team That Could Fly. I mean, Captain Awesome has his light thing, Rainbow Woman does her thing with the color, I go boom into the air...but you know what I mean. We all fly."
