- Subverted: Our heroes scavenge through the world and have to try to survive without anyone helping them when they are sick. But in a moment when Alice is already in a diabetic coma and Bob using a stick to find his way, they find a still-functioning hospital.

- Invoked: The military bombs all kinds of healthcare facilities since they became not much more than the main spreading points for The Plague. They just don't care what becomes of the survivors.
- Exploited: Emperor Evulz uses the situation for propaganda and lures people on his side by promising them the healthcare system back.
- Defied: Some surviving doctors and nurses set up their own emergency healthcare center to give people still an option to get treatment.
- Lampshaded: "Sorry Alice, this is the apocalypse. We will find no insulin. Better prepare to die."
