Basic Trope: A character with few or no other lines or scenes gets a show stopping song.

  • Straight: In Tropetacular!, the adventures of Alice and Bob's daily lives is briefly interrupted by Claire, a minor character, who sings a show stopping ballad about her struggles.
  • Exaggerated: Danny comes out of nowhere interrupting the Slice of Life scenes to sing a song about fighting aliens. It gets a standing ovation and becomes the show's Signature Song, even though the rest of the show is nothing like it.
  • Downplayed: Claire is a secondary lead with a decent amount of stage time but only gets one big song.
  • Justified:
  • Inverted: Alice gets no songs, even though she is a lead.
  • Subverted: Claire gets to sing a verse of Alice and Bob's show stopper.
  • Double Subverted: But she gets to sing the finale song all by herself.
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zig Zagged: Claire gets part of a duet with Bob, but this is her only song.
  • Averted: Claire only sings in ensemble pieces.
  • Enforced: Claire is played by a big name singer.
  • Lampshaded:
Ethan: "Can I have a song? Claire got a song!"
  • Invoked: Alice asks Claire what she's going through, giving her a chance to step into the spotlight.
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied: Everytime Claire tries to sing, Alice cuts her off.
  • Discussed:
Ethan:"Hey, sometimes small characters get the best songs. So can I sing?"
  • Conversed: ???
