Basic Trope: A competent army who are not the focus of the story but does their job without suffering major casualties.

  • Straight: Bob Corps has participated in many successful operations without losing much of their ranks.
  • Exaggerated:
    • Bob Corps has never lost a battle and has never experience any casualties throughout their military history.
    • Badass Army
  • Downplayed: Bob Corps may not be the best army in the world but they still do their job right.
  • Justified: Each Bob Corps soldier went through a rigorous training regiment, have studied various strategies and tactics in their academy, and are fully equipped with everything they need and more to fulfill their role and survive in the battlefield.
  • Inverted: Red Shirt Army
  • Subverted: Bob Corps were deployed into combat equipped with the latest gear and armaments. Their previous operation was a success, but unfortunately, they suffered heavy casualties in this one and retreated from the battlefield.
  • Double Subverted: ...but it turns out that it was merely a tactical retreat as the next day they deployed everything they had. They deployed their finest and brilliant soldiers into battle bringing with them an assortment of experimental gear. The opposition was annihilated.
  • Parodied: Bob Corps went in, charged straight into battle, and assaulted the enemy with disregard to tactics and strategy. Despite all of this, they won the day.
  • Zig-Zagged: Bob Corps manage to defeat and lose to adversaries of all comparative skill levels.
  • Averted: Bob Corps are just your run-of-the-mill military organization. They may not win wars all the time, but nor are they that incompetent.
  • Enforced: The fandom loved these Bob Corps extras so much that the writers were forbidden to kill them off or use them as Cannon Fodder in later stories.
  • Lampshaded: "We're losing a lot of men here. If this mission goes south, they'll have no choice but to send in the big boys if they want to win this thing."
  • Invoked: After analyzing the enemy using the data gathered from various skirmishes against them, the strategists have formulated a brilliant battle plan that will ensure their victory in the next battle.
  • Exploited: The Big Bad tricked Bob Corps to fight the forces of good, knowing how competent these guys are.
  • Defied: Alice manages to disable the distress beacon, preventing Bob Corps from being deployed.
  • Discussed: "We now know their weakness. Next time we fight them, we will be the ones who will triumph this time around."
  • Conversed: "Well, at least they are much more competent than the guys that went in last time."
  • Implied: The Bob Corps transport landed for the first time in the series. The local citizens talked amongst each other about their reputation.
  • Deconstructed:
  • Reconstructed:
    • Though they may be mercenaries, they follow a strict code of honor meaning that they will not work for someone they deem dishonorable.
    • They learn not to take having to kill personally, or, better yet, how to defeat forces of larger numbers without killing.
  • Played for Laughs: We see a Curb-Stomp Battle as Bob Corps begin their assault on the enemy base, all the while seeing the opposition running around like sissies, flailing their arms around in the air, and screaming their lungs out in a comedic fashion.
  • Played for Drama: After several episodes of seeing the Red Shirt Army lose over and over again, we are finally treated with an epic scene where Bob Corps arrive and begin annihilating the Big Bad's army. All the while a dramatic orchestra is being played in the background, everything is in slow motion and extreme closeups of them beating the crap out of the enemy are happening.
