Basic Trope: A nonhuman character uses a paper-thin human disguise, and manages to convince others that they are actually a human.
- Straight: Archer the tiger-man puts on glasses, a wig, and some clothing to cover his obvious fur and stripes in order to disguise as a human. Others are completely fooled.
- Exaggerated:
- Archer's disguise consists of putting on Groucho glasses and calling himself "Hugh Mann", and everyone is fooled.
- All of the nonhuman characters put on bad human disguises.
- Downplayed: Archer's disguise really is good enough to fool people at first, but is very prone to My Instincts Are Showing.
- Justified:
- Disguising as a human is probably difficult for Archer, considering he doesn't really understand their actions.
- Archer only had a few disguises at that moment.
- Inverted:
- Archer's disguise is foolproof, and yet people see right through it anyway.
- Hiro, a human character, badly disguises as a nonhuman.
- God Guise
- Subverted:
- Archer's disguise actually ends up looking quite good.
- Archer only 'fooled' his fellow actors. In-Universe it's paper-thin, but In-In-Universe it's elaborate.
- Archer's 'non-humanity' is merely Hiro's misperception of reality.
- Double Subverted:
- ...But he's still prone to clearly acting like a tiger.
- Hiro perceives Archer as a tiger-man when he's really a seal-man.
- Parodied: Everyone in the show is a humanoid animal wearing a variety of hats and accessories. All of them think everyone around them is a human and their disguise is flawless.
- Zig-Zagged: "Come on, did you really think my only disguise was going to be glasses and a wig? Obviously I'm going to more effort then just that!...I also have some shoes to cover the paws. Let's go!"
- Averted: Archer doesn't disguise as a human.
- Enforced: "We should add some comedy to the scene where the Token Non-Human disguises as a human!"
- Lampshaded:
- "Is it just me? Or is there something off about Hugh Mann?"
- "Hello, my name is 'Hugh Mann'. I'm a normal human, not a tiger in a disguise or anything."
- Invoked: "Don't bother wasting time with a proper disguise, you can just get in with a wig. I do it all the time.
- Exploited: On realizing Archer can pass as human so easily, other animal-people take the opportunity to start interacting with humanity in that way.
- Defied: "...Sir, you're clearly a tigerman. Did you really think I would be tricked by such a transparent disguise?"
- Discussed: "So, we're all just gonna pretend that guy's not a tiger in a costume?"
- Conversed: "Why does no-one ever notice how obviously a tiger these guys are? It's just a wig!"
I'm Hugh Mann. Do you want to go to the main page with me where we can do normal, human activities, like breathing air and walking with our legs?
