Basic Trope: Head injuries have no lasting effects.

  • Straight: Alice gets knocked out via Tap on the Head, and wakes up later with nothing more than just some confusion.
  • Exaggerated: Alice gets her head bashed in, but is fine a few seconds later.
  • Downplayed: Alice is stated to have gotten a minor concussion from getting knocked out, but other than that has no lasting damage.
  • Justified:
  • Inverted: Alice gets head injuries from the simplest things.
  • Subverted:
    • Alice gets up from a blow to the head, but then suffers a concussion.
    • Alice only thought she was out for 30 minutes as the clock read 21:45 instead of 21:15, it doesn't tell the date (which advanced by a week) after all.
  • Double Subverted: Alice recovers quickly after a day.
  • Parodied:
    • Being hit on the head makes Alice better, even curing her Convenient Terminal Illness.
    • Doctor Bob analyzes the chemical composition of Alice's cranium and finds it to be harder than diamond.
  • Zig-Zagged: Alice can just walk off some blows to her head, while others put her out of commission for varying lengths of time, and there's no correlation between how much force goes into the blow and how much it affects her.
  • Averted: The head injury has a lasting effect.
  • Enforced:
    • Amusing Injuries that involve someone getting hit in the head, because … well, it's not so funny when someone actually gets hurt, right?
    • Alice getting a head injury would impede the plot — a Tap on the Head was just supposed to render her unconscious momentarily.
  • Lampshaded: "How don't you have serious head injuries by now?" "I don't know!"
  • Invoked: Alice gets a steel plate inserted in her skull.
  • Exploited: Due to Alice's ability never to get head injuries or concussions, she's sent to a mission where someone would be most likely to suffer from one of these injuries.
  • Defied: ???
  • Discussed: "You'd think Alice would get a concussion after that."
  • Conversed: "Why do fictional characters never get concussions after being hit in the head?"
  • Deconstructed: Alice may survive repeated hard blows to the head at the outset, but they take their toll and debilitate her after long enough. Eventually, she's reduced to a permanent coma.
