Basic Trope: Enjoying getting dirty.

  • Straight: Alice rolls happily around in the mud.
  • Exaggerated:
    • Everyone likes rolling around in the mud.
    • Getting dirty is all Alice is interested in and she's sad if she's clean.
    • Alice likes to roll in rotten meat.
  • Downplayed: Unlike Bob the Neat Freak, Alice doesn't mind getting dirty, but she doesn't actually think it's fun.
  • Justified: Alice is a small child, only five or six years old.
  • Inverted:
  • Subverted: Alice is rolling in the mud, but later expressed that she didn't like it.
  • Double Subverted: She was lying.
  • Parodied: Alice is a pig, hence why she likes getting dirty.
  • Zigzagged: Sometimes, Alice seems to like getting dirty, sometimes she doesn't.
  • Averted: Nobody gets dirty and enjoys it.
  • Lampshaded: "What's so great about dirt, Alice?"
  • Enforced: "Bob is too cautious and paranoid. Let's get him out of his shell a bit by having Alice invite him to play in the mud."
  • Invoked: Bob tries to make the mud fun for Alice.
  • Exploited: A supervillain creates magical mud puddles in the yard, enticing the children to jump in them. But the puddles are a trap, and the children are turned into pigs.
  • Defied: Alice refuses to get dirty.
  • Discussed: "Why do some people like to get dirty?"
  • Conversed: "Why does that character like the mud so much?"
  • Implied: Alice is seen in the mud. She never expresses emotion, but she wouldn't be doing it if she didn't like it.
  • Deconstructed: Alice ends up getting germs and/or smelling bad.
  • Reconstructed: She likes getting dirty, but doesn't mind getting clean afterwards.
  • Played for Laughs: Alice is comically The Pigpen thanks to her habit.
  • Played for Drama: Alice has sensory issues and rolling in the mud is the only thing that can calm her down. She hates being dirty afterwards, but it's necessary for her.
