Basic Trope: All of the vehicles in a work are of the same make.

  • Straight: Bob lives in Troperville and drives a Ford Mustang. Everyone else in Troperville drives Fords of various models.
  • Exaggerated:
    • Bob and everyone else in Troperville drives the Shelby-tuned versions of the Ford Mustang, which gets upgraded and replaced every year.
    • The entire population of the state that Troperville is located in exclusively drives Fords. Even the SWAT Team has a fleet of Ford Rangers, Ford Explorers, Ford Transits and even a Ford F-350, and the Gangbangers and Western Terrorists drive Ford Focus hatchbacks and Ford Mustangs, with two of Arc Villains drive a Ford Pinto and a Ford GT respectively.
  • Downplayed: Bob and most Troperville citizens drive Fords, but some others drive Chevrolets, Hondas, and other makes of cars.
  • Justified:
    • After a 20-car accident involving one from each popular make besides Ford, everyone in Troperville decides to only drive Fords from then on.
    • The close by Ford factory greatly reduces the logistical cost associated with buying a car compared to other brands.
  • Inverted: No one in Troperville drives a Ford.
  • Subverted: Bob is eating lunch at a table at The Troperville Cafe and notices a string of Fords drive by. He thinks everyone in his hometown owns one...until a Chevrolet passes by.
  • Double Subverted: ...but upon closer inspection, Bob realizes that the county displayed on its license plate doesn't match the one Troperville is located in.
  • Parodied: Troperville citizens get brutally beaten up if they're caught driving a non-Ford vehicle.
  • Zig-Zagged: Every Troperville citizen drives a Ford one year, then most change their cars for other makes the next.
  • Averted: Many cars of varying makes are driven in Troperville.
  • Enforced: The producers had to include this Product Placement to get funding from Ford.
  • Lampshaded: "Wow, Charlie, have you noticed how there's no one in Troperville that doesn't drive Fords?" "Even bad guys drive Fords!"
  • Invoked: Charlie is a criminal mastermind who wants everyone in Troperville to drive a Ford, so he and his underlings plant a bomb on every non-Ford vehicle within several miles in Troperville, including ones in dealerships.
  • Exploited: Donald, a succesful businessman and billionare, is looking to open up a huge new Ford dealership and service center. Because everyone in Troperville is a Ford owner or leaser, he chooses the town to construct it in.
  • Defied: Ellie, an enthusiastic government employee, hears from one of her coworkers that the City of Troperville will give a $5,000 tax credit to everyone who owns or leases a Ford in the city. Knowing this will make people get more Fords, she lobbies the government to save it from bankruptcy.
  • Discussed: After Ellie successfully shuts the initiative down, two senior citizens named Frank and Gerry talk about their relief and everything that could have happened to the city and its people had it gone through, including defaults and reposessions.
  • Conversed: In The Tropeman Show, a popular show in Troperville, main protagonist Henry and his best friend Izzy talk about how strange it is that everyone in their hometown drives Fords.
  • Implied: Josh's friend group, which consists of himself, Katie, Leah, Matt, and Natalie, all hail from Troperville and mention at various points that they drive Fords. They also bring up how their parents, stepparents, siblings, other friends, and coworkers do so as well.
  • Deconstructed: Since everyone in Troperville has a Ford, Ford and other Ford-associated and specialist manufacterers and technicians struggle to keep up with demand for service and parts.
  • Played for Laughs: Troperville citizens love to joke about other car makes and their owners at their expense.
  • Played for Drama: Oliver gets ostracized, humiliated, and even assaulted over his ownership of a Chevy. This physically and mentally scars him so badly that he's ultimately Driven to Suicide.

You're taking your Chevrolet back to Everybody Owns a Ford? Cool! I've got one, too!
