Basic Trope: A girl fighting for the "evil" side but not really evil herself, falls in love with the hero, and eventually joins his side.
- Straight: Alice, the Big Bad's only daughter, serves as an Ace Pilot for The Empire, waging war against The Federation. She gets shot down by The Hero Bob, before meeting him face-to-face, without knowing each others' identities. One Thing Leads To Another, and before long, Alice deserts her father's cause to become Bob's wingwoman and official pair.
- Exaggerated: Alice defects immediately after her introduction, the moment she sees Bob flying. That is, before she even takes off the ground.
- Downplayed:
- General Alice has a thing for the enemy pilot Bob and decides to keep her forces neutral in the conflict, supporting neither Bob, nor his enemies.
- General Alice has a thing for the enemy pilot Bob, but she doesn't act on those feelings until after the war is over.
- Justified: Alice had a Dark and Troubled Past, leaving her no choice but to obey her father, but The Power of Love gives her courage to face her inner demons.
- Inverted:
- Bob falls in love with (genuinely evil) Alice instead, and defects to The Empire, turning on his former friends and allies just to be with her.
- Alternatively, Bob is a servant to The Empire and he eventually switches sides so he can be with Alice, who fights for the forces of good.
- Subverted:
- Just as Alice is about to defect, her father contacts her and tearfully begs her to not abandon him. Bob realizes whom he was wooing all along, and refuses to accept Alice's defection, calling it a bluff.
- Alice seems to have made a Heel–Face Turn, but as she moves in to embrace Bob...she promptly jabs in a knife.
- Double Subverted:
- It is then revealed that the Big Bad is not Alice's father but a Manipulative Bastard who killed her real family. Alice swears revenge and goes rogue. Bob soons finds her and offers a place in his squadron.
- Alice was being watched and had been forced to attack Bob to prove her loyalty, but she was able to tip Bob off about her situation and arranged for the attack to be a Fake Assassination in order to get out of the situation while still proving her actual loyalty to Bob.
- Parodied: An entire Amazon Brigade of The Empire falls head over heels for Bob, turning the show into an Unwanted Harem comedy.
- Zig Zagged: Alice falls in love with Bob, defects to the Feds, then betrays Bob and leaves him for dead. Then Bob comes Back from the Dead, turns evil, and joins the Imperials. Just as Alice is about to acknowledge her feelings for him, Bob kills her father and becomes The Emperor himself. Alice in grief defects to the Feds again. But they discover that the Big Bad was never Alice's real dad to begin with, so she goes right back to Bob, who refuses to accept her defection because he actually pulling off a Silent Scapegoat plan...
- Averted: If there are important female antagonists/mooks at all, they are all cynical enough to not fall in love with enemy pilots.
- Enforced: There is only one important female character in the story and her sole purpose is to become the hero's love interest because the producers wanted a Token Romance subplot.
- Lampshaded by Alice's CO: "And stay away from the POWs, Alice. You are in the high risk group of being swayed by them."
- Invoked: "Hey, Bob, that Alice girl is hot. You wanna try your luck?" "Shooting her down would be a start..."
- Exploited: Bob literally tries to seduce Alice in order to convince her to join his side.
- Defied: Alice's devotion to her father and her country helps her overcome the temptation and she henceforth denies any attraction to Bob. She may still hook up with him after the war.
- Discussed: "Did you hear, the new girl in Bob's squadron is Imperial Princess Alice!" "Well, duh, the heroes always get all the hot enemy chicks..."
- Conversed: "I knew right away that Alice is gonna run over to Bob. After all, that's the only reason they'd introduce a hot girl with unquestionable morals fighting for the evil side."
- Deconstructed: Alice apparently falls in love with Bob, defects to The Federation... then shoots him in the aft in the climatic battle, revealing that she and her father planned all along to make Bob "The Hero of The Federation" (with Alice's careful help), then betray and kill him to demoralize the enemy.
- Reconstructed: Bob survives and, realizing that he still loves Alice, resolves to "bring her back". Meanwhile, Alice has a similar realization and begins to hate her father for tricking her into sacrificing her love. The story goes on as outlined above.
