Basic Trope: Someone kills a cop.
- Straight: Alice shoots a cop dead.
- Exaggerated:
- Alice goes on a shooting rampage at the local police station.
- Alice kills all police officers in the world.
- Downplayed:
- Alice shoots a cop while they are off-duty for reasons unrelated to his police profession.
- Alice injures a cop.
- Justified:
- The cop was trying to stop her from committing a crime.
- The cop caught her and was going to report it.
- Alice hates cops.
- Alice is Ax-Crazy.
- It was the only way to stop the Rabid Cop from brutalizing those innocents.
- Inverted:
- The cop kills the bad guy.
- The cop kills an innocent person.
- Alice respects authority.
- Subverted:
- Alice shoots a cop, but the cop survives.
- Alice is found standing over a cop's corpse with a smoking gun in her hand. She didn't do it; she found the corpse and picked up the gun in a moment of utter stupidity.
- Alice shoots an individual in a police uniform. Then it turns out the "cop" is an imposter.
- Double Subverted:
- The cop dies of his injuries on the way to the hospital.
- Alice set up the crime to make it look like she was just an innocent bystander who stumbled upon a horrible murder when she's actually the killer.
- They're an imposter because they don't work at this precinct; They work at the other precinct a few miles away.
- Parodied: Alice kills the cop because he ate all the donuts.
- Zig-Zagged: Alice shoots a cop, but the cop survives, and then he dies of his injuries on the way to the hospital, but Alice wasn’t the cause of his death.
- Averted: Alice doesn’t kill the cop and uses non lethal force instead.
- Exploited: Evulz kills a cop and frames Alice for it, knowing the cops will do their damnedest to blow her away in the ensuing Cop Killer Manhunt.
- Defied: Alice absolutely refuses to open fire on police in uniform, knowing that to do so would be to dig her own grave.
- Deconstructed:
- Alice kills a cop. His buddies go apeshit and embark on a Roaring Rampage of Revenge that ends with Alice being lynched, eroding public trust in the police.
- Alice kills a Killer Cop in self-defense. Alice and the audience know that the cop went completely psycho and started trying to blast Alice unprovoked, but she only has her word against a justice system that will almost certainly grant benefit of the doubt to the police without evidence to the contrary.
- Reconstructed:
- That is until Alice tells the public that the police are all things wrong with the world...prompting the public to immediately rebel against the police and trust Alice instead. Alice then forms a Vigilante Militia as a new way of combatting crime.
- Alice justifies her killing of the Killer Cop by saying he's a disgrace to the law and therefore had to be removed from the ranks. She showed evidence of him distributing drugs to criminals and bribing fellow police officers with lots of money, and adds that had he been imprisoned, he would just continue his crimes from behind bars, which would give the police a harder time. The police then hired Alice as the Killer Cop's replacement, promising to be wiser and not walk down the very same path he did.
