Playing With / Child-Like Voice

Basic Trope: An adult, teenager, or older child who has a significantly younger-sounding voice. Often leads to Vocal Dissonance.

  • Straight: Bobby is 14, but has a voice that sounds more like a much younger boy.
  • Exaggerated: Bobby is 100 years old, but he sounds like he's 3.
  • Downplayed: Bobby is about 10, but his voice is somewhat higher-pitched than most kids his age.
  • Justified:
    • Bobby is a late bloomer.
    • Bobby is of a species that retains a childlike voice for a longer period of time (or even their whole life).
  • Inverted: Bobby is only 10, but sounds like a grown man.
  • Subverted: Bobby was only pretending to have a youthful voice.
  • Double Subverted: As it turns out, his real voice is even more high-pitched.

  • Zig-Zagged: Bobby's voice changes throughout the series.
  • Averted: Bobby is 14, and sounds like an average 14 year old boy.
