Basic Trope: A person with powers over air or wind.
- Straight: Sam can cause strong winds and use air currents to fly.
- Exaggerated:
- Sam can cause class 5 hurricanes.
- Sam can cause global destruction to planets by summoning supernaturally powerful hurricanes.
- Downplayed: Sam can cause mild gusts of wind, strong enough to carry sheets of paper or leaves.
- Justified: Sam belongs to a species of air elementals.
- Inverted:
- Sam can control earth.
- Air can control Sam.
- Subverted: Bob thinks that Sam has created a gust of wind, but he's been simply standing behind an industrial fan which has just started to work.
- Double Subverted: Later Bob's suspicions are proven true when Sam does, indeed, control wind; the fan is powered by the windmill Bob was turning.
- Parodied: Sam can control gasses... meaning, he can weaponize farts.
- Zig Zagged: Instead of control over wind or air itself, Bob has power over certain aspects of it, like oxygen or air pressure.
- Averted:
- This is a world with no elemental powers.
- Sam is a merman and the entire story takes place underwater.
- Enforced: The writers have already came up with someone for fire, water and earth and they need a character to finish the rooster.
- Lampshaded: "Is this guy controlling this tornado?"
- Invoked: Aliens give Sam a power to control air, mostly For the Lulz.
- Exploited: Sam uses his powers to protect people from hurricanes and tornadoes.
- Defied: Sam is trapped in an underwater lair, with all air he has needed for him to breathe.
- Discussed: "Man, wouldn't being an Air Mage be totally cool?" "Yeah, dude. Chicks would dig that."
- Conversed: "It's a show about a guy who can fly and make tornadoes; you know... it's called Tornado Man, after all."
- Implied: Sam often goes missing at the same time a hero called Tornado Man shows up and jumps into action.
- Deconstructed: To have full control over what he's doing, Sam has to fly high up to see it; however, at this altitudes, there's not enough air to support his powers or his breathing and what he does gets out of control badly.
- Reconstructed: Having failed once, Sam learns to use his powers on smaller scale and carries an oxygen tank with him when going in the air.
- Played For Laughs: Sam's first attempts at flight end in him crashing into stuff; Hilarity Ensues.
- Played For Drama: Sam's first attempts at controlling tornadoes end in him destroying his house.
