Basic Trope: Information (usually a character's name) is never mentioned in the work directly, but through materials such as the script, closed captioning, credits, or the like.
- Straight: In Trope Tales, Alice's name is only given in the end credits.
- Exaggerated: Nobody's name is provided throughout the entire run of Trope Tales; you would need to check the script to know who's who.
- Downplayed: Alice is only ever called by her nickname, Allie. The script reveals her full name.
- Justified: Alice is never mentioned by name because she's a spy and must keep her name a secret; her full name is provided in the caption for the ease of the viewer, as it's not a spoiler.
- Inverted: Alice's full name is used several times throughout Trope Tales, but she's referred to only as "Girl A" in the script.
- Parodied: Alice's full name is only shown in the credits, as Allison Madeyouwatchthecreditsson.
- Averted: Alice is referred to by name at any time in Trope Tales, leaving no ambiguity as to what her name is.
- Enforced:
- Alice is actually a real-life celebrity, but due to contractual issues, she cannot have her name spoken on-screen.
- The producers want the audience to be just as confused as The Inspector, but having the other characters confused would be the wrong kind of confusion.
- Lampshaded: "Hey, uh... do you know what her name is? I'm sure somebody does."
- Invoked: The author deliberately chooses to not state Alice's name, hoping that it will lead to people watching the credits to find out.
- Exploited: The reveal of Alice's name is a plot point; once a character can identify her, the script uses her proper name and uses an ambiguous name until it is revealed.
- Defied: The author realizes that Alice's full name was never stated, and shoehorns in a scene where her proper name is given to make sure there's no confusion.
- Discussed: "...y'know, everybody's got a name here except her. Kinda suspicious, don't you think?"
- Conversed: Trope Tales is an In-Universe show in It's Always Cloudy in Tropevania. The plot of one episode involves the gang trying to figure out Alice's name.
