Basic Trope: While rushing through a door, a character ends up accidentally hitting another character with the door.

  • Straight: Alice comes running through a door, accidentally hitting Bob with the door as she runs through.
  • Exaggerated:
    • Alice slowly opens the door, gently tapping Bob, who flies across the room.
    • Alice kicks the door off its hinges, causing it to fly straight across the room and slam into Bob.
  • Downplayed: Alice jogs through the door, opening it slowly until the door stops next to Bob. Bob feels a slight nudge as Alice walks in, and the two greet each other.
  • Justified:
    • Alice was deliberately trying to hurt Bob.
    • Alice is so focused on something right now (such as chasing a criminal) she only sees everything else as an obstacle and doesn't realize Bob was on the other side of the door.
  • Inverted:
    • Bob closes the door in Alice's face as she's passing through.
    • Alice kick-opens the door, but there is a spring attached to the door that makes it swing back and hit Alice.
  • Subverted:
  • Double Subverted: Bob steps out of the way of the door, but then another door opens and hits him.
  • Implied:
    • There is an imprint of Bob's silhouette in the soft backside of doors.
    • Camera follows Alice as she comes running through a door, Bob's scream is heard offscreen.
  • Parodied:
    • Alice slams the door open into Bob. When Alice finds the door stuck partially closed, she slams it open repeatedly until Bob is paper thin and the door opens completely.
    • A sentient door slams into Bob with malicious intent.
  • Untwist: Bob is standing behind screen doors and sees Alice running towards doors. He does not back off and gets hit.
  • Zig Zagged: Alice slams a revolving door into Bob.
  • Averted: Nobody gets hit by swinging doors.
  • Enforced: The clip of swinging doors hitting Bob is added to the show as Public Service Announcements: Safety.
  • Lampshaded: "Hey Bob, I just received a call from Alice saying she's on her way here." "Thanks for the warning, I'll step away from the door."
  • Invoked: Harry slowly backs Bob into the door, knowing that Alice will be slamming through it at any second...
  • Exploited: Harry is secretly attaching short metal spikes to all swinging doors in the house where Bob lives.
  • Defied:
    • Bob always makes sure not to be standing too close to any door.
    • The area behind every door in the building is marked in red with a black "Do not stand here" sign.
  • Discussed:
    • "Ow! Why does that keep happening?"
    • Bob is shown in a emergency department, explaining his injuries to a nurse.
  • Conversed: "Alice is coming, this oughta be good...Splat! Ha ha!"
  • Deconstructed: Alice slams the door open into Bob. The door is damaged and Bob suffers serious injuries.
  • Reconstructed: Exactly like she intended.
  • Played For Laughs: The door-strike causes Amusing Injuries.
  • Played For Drama: The door-strike causes serious injuries.
  • Played For Horror: The door-strike causes horrific and gory injuries.
