Spoilers Off applies to all Nightmare Fuel pages, so all spoilers are unmarked. You Have Been Warned!

  • The fire in the first chapter of the story: a crowd of innocent people fleeing for their lives, unable to escape an advancing wall of flame because the one bridge out of town is too thin for them to all cross. A nearby house falls right where Kayo and her family are—her husband pushes her away from the worst of the debris, but it doesn't save her. She's trapped under a fallen pillar, her crying baby in her arms and completely helpless to do anything as her clothes catch fire and burn her alive.
  • The sheer amount of Alone with the Psycho that occurs with the Miroku family and Kayo. All of them are convinced that she's a normal, good-natured woman, and she was even friends with some of them. Rin even ends up vaguely thinking she's a reincarnated Elluka because she looks like the sorceress in her dreams. And yet this woman they feel so comfortable with ends up mercilessly slaughtering them in progressively hideous ways with a pair of sewing scissors. Not a single one of them sees it coming.
  • That moment when Kai, completely alone with Kayo and having a pretty normal conversation, notices that she's wearing the kimono, obi, and hairpin that belongs to his dead family. She then proceeds to explain her motives to him before completely tearing his body apart with the scissors.
Kai: That red kimono you're wearing...I recognize it.
  • After slaughtering the entire Miroku family, Kiji and his cohorts track Kayo down only to find her covered in almost buckets of blood from her murder of Kai. When she sees them she's completely nonplussed.
Kayo: How is it? Aren't I beautiful?
