"Susie, I've loved you for as long as I can remember. Your smile does not look like a haunted jack-o'-lantern face. I don't see a coat draped over a chair when I'm sleeping and think it's you watching me..."
Although Summer Camp Island is ostensibly a colorful, sweet slice-of-life series, it is not without its darker moments.

    Season One
"It's My Party"
  • When Susie acts horribly toward the other campers at her birthday party, Oscar and Hedgehog encourage them to falsely claim to Susie that she's wonderful, while meaning the exact opposite. Susie quickly figures it out... just as Pepper gives an entire speech to this effect. Susie's rage builds while her face remains immobile, with a single eye twitch showing just how steamed she is as dark clouds gather in her eyes...

"The Soundhouse"

  • When Oscar hatches a pterodactyl egg blocking one of the holes in the titular structure, something breaks out of it with tremendous force, prompting the egg and Oscar to scream at the top of their respective lungs; Oscar's face contorts horrifically as he does so.

"Twelve Angry Hedgehogs"

  • When Oscar accidentally clones a banana, he winds up cloning Hedgehog as well. The bananas go bad... as do the Hedgehogs, and they are demonic, with distorted faces, terrible noises that contain unnerving shades of Hedgehog's voice, and bizarre movements. As Hedgehog works to build a device to contain the situation, every shot of her cabin shows more of the clones sneaking up on her while drooling, giggling and snarling; as they pursue Hedgehog through the camp, one can be seen doing the infamous "backwards spider-walk" (yes, that backwards spider-walk). One clone even gloms onto poor Max and torments him, though he is shown to be fairly sanguine about the whole thing in one shot. The eerie music playing over all of this does not help, and one of the clones even contributes to the soundtrack with a stolen violin.

    Season Four
"Tomorrow's Bananas"
  • When scrying into her possible future, Hedgehog sees a disturbing version of it in which she unleashes her magical powers upon her school.
