When a monster is going on all fours in a small space to hunt you down.

Volume 1

'The Girl Who Wanted To Be Boring'

  • The scene before Jean sold Flum into slavery was rather creepy. It begins with Jean acting somewhat neutral to Flum with him asking her to follow her. She didn't feel like she would say no to him even if something felt off about this. Unfortunately, she realized something was wrong when it was too late because not even she ever believed Jean would do something as unforgivable.
  • The very act of being sold into slavery certainly is frightening on its own. The narration establishes that being sold into slavery involves being branded and not being able to live as a normal human ever again.
  • Readers are not spared the details of the horrific pain Flum is forced to endure when Jean personally brands her skin. It is later revealed that even if Flum can get the slave tattoo removed, the injury Jean inflicted upon her will never heal.

'Flum's Blessing in Disguise'

  • The slave merchant using ghouls to kill the slaves he is having trouble selling for entertainment.
  • The cursed sword acting as a Hope Spot that will kill anyone who touches it.
  • While it was a moment of awesome, Flum using the cursed sword to easily kill the ghouls and dismember the slave merchant was rather nightmare enduing. For a nice girl like Flum, she showcases that when she is pushed too far and witnesses such monstrous actions, she will show no mercy to the wrongdoers.
