We always gonna be the thing they talk about

Park Ji-hyo (born Park Ji-soo February 1, 1997), known professionally as Jihyo, is a South Korean singer best known for being the leader and main vocalist of the K-pop girl group TWICE.

In 2023, Jihyo became the second Twice member, after Nayeon the previous year, to have a commercial solo release, with the Zone EP released in August 2023. She previously made solo soundtrack appearances on three different K-dramas in 2022.

Not to be confused with Running Man star Song Ji-hyo.

Soundtrack Appearances

Tropin' Me Good:

  • Break-Up Song: "Don't Wanna Go Back"
    "Don't wanna go back
You were very special to me, good man
But now the romance has disappeared"
    (English translation)
  • Cool Car: The coastal road trip depicted in the video for "Killin' Me Good" happens in a red 1980 Chevrolet Corvette.
  • Darker and Edgier: The initial promotional images indicated that the Zone EP is this to Nayeon's self-titled EP. The EP itself is lower-key and more sensual to fit Jihyo's deeper voice. It also includes some songs about breakups, sex, and wanting to run away and never come back.
  • Dumped via Text Message: in the end of "Killin' Me Good" music video Jihyo sends to her boyfriend a blunt message that says "You're making me upset, we're done!!!!!!!!!!!!". We never know exact reasons of breakup, but m/v shows Jihyo being sad and trying to call, and boyfriend in his last messages asked about reasons of his girlfriend's behavior and called her selfish.
  • The Faceless: We never get a clear look at the boyfriend in the "Killin' Me Good" video.
  • Gray Rain of Depression: in one scene in "Killin' Me Good" music video Jihyo is trying to call somebody and looks anxious while rain is pouring outside the car she's sitting in.
  • Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: The boyfriend in the "Killin' Me Good" video noticeably towers over Jihyo. Jihyo herself stands at just over 5’3” without heels, so towering over her is not difficult.
  • Intercourse with You: Killin' Me Good
"You know me better than me
Oh, you keep on making me say
    "Oh, my, oh, my"
"Don't stop", just two words endlessly
    Whisper in your ear
    "Take me so high""
    (English translation)
  • Long-Distance Relationship: according to Jihyo, this is the plot of "Killin' Me Good" music video. The boyfriend lives overseas and falls in love with Jihyo when he is visiting Korea. At some point he returns back, and it eventually gets harder to reach him.
  • Production Foreshadowing:
    • "A Strange Day" hints at the next TWICE comeback.
      ''After the darkness clears
Rubbing my eyes in the bright light
I'm ready to be your darkness"
      (English translation)
    • Zone itself was foreshadowed by Jihyo making solo appearances on three different K-dramas in 2022, the year before her official solo debut.
  • Singer Name Drop: in "Talkin' About It" Jihyo says "24" as an interlude, and one of 24kGoldn's lines is "And I got Jihyo with me, better not talk back"
  • Singer-Songwriter: as of Zone Jihyo has 18 lyricist credits and 6 composition credits ("Cactus", "Trouble", "Talkin' About It", "Don't Wanna Go Back", "Room", and "Nightmare"), 5 and 4 of those respectively on her solo EP.
  • Solo Side Project: Jihyo is, first and foremost, the leader and main vocalist of TWICE. Zone was released during a break in the middle of their 2023 tour.
  • Translated Cover Version: "Killin' Me Good" has an English version, released on September 18 as a single.
  • Video Full of Film Clips: Her OST videos, naturally, though "I Fly" only has a performance-only version and a clips-only version.
  • Wanderlust Song: "Room"
    "I'm going on a trip
To the far end of the world
    Rattling a tightly locked room
After checking dozens of times, we're far away"
    (English translation)
  • A Wild Rapper Appears!: 24kGoldn on "Talkin' About It".
