"Élégant", Henry Henderson's favorite word, which he takes to truly OTT levels during chapter 4. The fandom was quick to follow in his footsteps. Adding onto that, people have compared him to Mr. Herriman from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, who even has a similar monocle and personality.
This is also a meme in China, translated as "Grace" in the linked article, but its origin is clearly given as this series.
One Punch AnyaExplanationIn reference to Anya delivering a hard right to Damian's face, throwing him against two dusbins and the wall, showing more strength than what would be normal for a child of her age and body type. When the scene was shown in the animated adaptation, fans immediately interposed it with JAM Project's "THE HERO", particularly the "ONE-PUNCH~!!!" line
"Spy Axed Family", "Axeman", and other various "axe" puns are used ironically (and unironically) to describe the manga and its author due to the latter's cancellation history.
People like to joke that Anya and Bond are reincarnations of Nina and Alexander and that this is the universe making up for the terrible fate they faced in their previous lives.
TF2 SPY×FAMILYExplanationTeam Fortress 2 fans were quick to associate this with RED Spy's and BLU Scout's mother's relationship in "Meet the Spy". Cue Loid being replaced with the RED Spy, Yor replaced with BLU Scout's mom and Anya replaced with BLU Scout
Using characters from other series in the anime's visuals.
Anya's love for peanuts is often reinterpreted as her being a diehard fan of Charles M. Schulz's Peanuts or hating the show for misleading her by not being about the literal food.
"I like this show" ExplanationA screenshot of Anya pointing to the cartoon Spy Wars on TV has been modified to depict various shows fans like, with the most common of course being recursively putting in Spy×Family itself.
"Waku waku!" ExplanationAnya's Character Catchphrase, which roughly translates to "so exciting!" and is typically rendered as "so cool!" in the dub. Naturally, it's used to express excitement over something.
"Not waku waku."
403212 ExplanationIn May 2022, artist ratatatat74 released a vanilla Loid/Yor doujin (known as Spy x Sex in English), and a week later released a bonus follow-up to said doujin. By itself, this caused a huge surprise, as the artist was and is primarily known for their hardcore NTR (which, given the first two pages are from Yuri's perspective, the doujin still technically has a dash of...). Since the doujin was released digitally instead of physically, had very little competition at the time, and is admittedly very well done, it quickly spread across the internet. It was translated to multiple languages and at the height of its popularity was more widespread than some pieces of official art (well, the SFW pages anyway). Even nowadays it's difficult to find a Spy x Family fan that doesn't know about or hasn't seen ratatat's contribution to the Spy x Family fandom.
"Oh no, I just dropped this supercool picture of my dog! Gosh, I am so clumsy!" Explanationfrom the 25th chapter of the manga, with "my dog" being replaced with some other accomplishment or object to draw attention to.
Spider Yor, Spider Yor ExplanationIn an anime-original addition to Episode 19, Yor goes through some hijinks trying to return Anya's gym clothes while she's at Eden, including parkour, climbing the sides of buildings, and being mistaken as a 'Spider Woman' ghost by an Eden student. It didn't take long for fans to joke that Yor has Spider-Man's powers.
Cum bloodstains/Chinese censorship has gone too farExplanationAfter the premiere of episode 5, one Twitter user posted a pair of screencaps◊ depicting the same still of Yor with blood on her face, with the second image recoloring the blood white; the caption claimed that the latter was the result of censorship by Chinese broadcasters. The tweet quickly went viral thanks to the white blood's resemblance to semen, resulting in fans editing similar shots from other anime in the same vein.
"It's for the mission."ExplanationLoid has a habit of justifying things he does for his family as "actually" being for the benefit of Operation Strix, which serves as his way of trying to deny his growing feelings for Yor and Anya no matter how much said excuse does not apply. It's commonly used in fanworks, which tend to gradually escalate the situations in which Loid says it—ranging from cases where it's somewhat reasonable, like increased public affection towards Yor, to cases where he's clearly just deluding himself, like actually sleeping with Yor or having children with her. Bonus points if he continues saying it even after Operation Strix is over. There are also pieces of fanart where an adult Anya does so with Damian (up to and including sleeping with him, marrying him and having his kids).
A common joke is comparing Anya's perception of Damien and Damien's perception of Anya in their imaginations. Due to his large crush on Anya, Damien usually remembers her with more Moe features such as heavy blushing and sparkling eyes. Anya on the other hand views him with bug eyes, a snotty nose, and usually making erratic movements.
The Japanese voice cast's terrible art of the series is well-known in the fandom; a sample of said art can be found here, and a reaction pic from Endo here.
Many artists have made parodies of the anime's poster, replacing Loid, Anya, and Yor with characters from other works.
Siscon YuriExplanationYuri's weird obsession with his sister often receives many memes due to its disturbing, base breaking nature, with some fans assuming his feelings towards Yor are incestuous.
Shinzo Abe's favorite series.ExplanationThe late former Prime Minister of Japan was often mocked abroad for his attempts to increase Japan's poor birth rate, which by some accounts included pushing for "pro-family" messages in fiction. The most notorious prior example of him being associated with this in anime fandom was likely DARLING in the FRANXX, which in its later episodes was practically featuring lectures about the importance of two people getting together and having a baby. Because SPY×FAMILY is one of the few modern examples of a series focusing entirely on a domestic family unit (albeit not a biological family) and has proven incredibly popular, this has caused many people to joke that the series is Shinzo Abe's scheme finally paying off. When Abe was assassinated in 2022, some went so far as to call it his greatest legacy, or that as long as the series lived, he would never truly be gone.
Yor's killer throwing armExplanationYor demonstrates how to throw a dodgeball to Anya and shows off her inhuman strength in typical fashion. Many editors have modified the scene to show Yor throwing the ball at something and causing it to die/explode.
The Briars are just built differentExplanationThe jokes about Yuri being immune to Truck-kun in turn caused others to point out that Yor has been hit by cars and trucks herself only to shrug it off like nothing, particularly when she tried rushing Becky to a hospital when she thought she was sick, threw her in the air when she saw a car coming, got hit, and then used the momentum of the hit to roll towards and catch Becky then keep running like nothing. Cue the memes of the Briar family being superhuman, and Truck-kun repeatedly failing to isekai either of them.
Anya's sandcastle vs Loid's sandcastle ExplanationDuring the montage of the Forgers enjoying a day at the beach after the cruise's end, we see Anya building a "sandcastle" that's basically a mound of sand with some holes and twigs on it, and she's then shocked to see that Loid has built a huge (taller than he is), incredibly detailed and realistic-looking sandcastle. This is often used as a reaction to something vastly outperforming something else.
"I'll see you in hell, baby!"ExplanationIn SPY×FAMILY CODE: White, Anya plays a carnival shooting game lying down on the table holding the rifle to assume a sniper pose and utters this line. The screenshot of this scene is usually accompanied by a second image showing someone in the crosshairs to suggest Anya is about to shoot them.
