Added an example from Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, in the beginning of the Donkey Kong Adventure DLC.

Added DiffLines:

* VideoGame/MarioPlusRabbidsKingdomBattle: In the Donkey Kong Adventure DLC, When Beep-0 and Rabbid Peach first arrive on DK Island, they find themselves surrounded by hostile Rabbids. Rabbid Peach casually goes for her Blaster, but finds it is nowhere to be seen - cue a CutawayGag showing she left it at Peach's Castle as a makeshift campfire for s'mores. Fortunately, when Donkey Kong and Rabbid Cranky Kong arrive to save them, the latter gives Rabbid Peach a new Blaster - this justifies why she uses different Blasters and Sentries as opposed to the main game.

* After the prologue of Crysis 2, Alcatraz wakes up alone in a New York undergoing a three-sided war. Prophet did at least have the courtesy to leave Alcatraz the pistol he killed himself with... but didn't leave any ammo for it, forcing the player to sneak for a while before they can actually find bullets to shoot with.

* Happens in Film/EnemyAtTheGates to the last soldier that Zaytsev shoots in his introductory badass moment. Once he realizes that Zaytsev is there, and has killed 4 of his comrades, he quickly realizes that his rifle is not within arms reach, and tries to go for it... only to have Zaytsev introduce his skull to a 7.62mm bullet before he can get more then three feet from his starting position.
** Zaytsev himself just before this scene. Due to a shortage of rifles he and many other soldiers sent into the attack have to wait until a man carrying a rifle gets shot, so they can pick up their rifle and use it.

* The Commissar by Creator/SvenHassel. Gregor Martin's unnamed GeneralRipper does a surprise inspection on the garrison, claiming the enemy is attacking (the garrison is in the middle of Germany, so they're not). The general is not impressed when the guard's response is to stumble about half-asleep looking for his weapon, and orders Gregor to demonstrate how to sound the alarm when the enemy is at the door. Gregor marches off to the nearest anti-tank gun and fires off a shell. HilarityEnsues.

* Sarge from Machinima/RedVsBlue is a serious offender here. While all of the other characters can and do switch weapons, sometimes on the fly, Sarge is the only one in the entire series that refuses to go anywhere without his Shotgun. Although the one time he didn't have it, when he could've used it he was acting as bait for Agent Washington (justified as Wash made him surrender it), most other characters would've picked up another weapon later instead of trying to swipe it back from Wash.

Doesn't necessarily have to be a firearm, any time a character loses a weapon of any sort can certainly count here. A ProperlyParanoid character trying to defy this trope will often keep a weapon under their pillow and/or feel like they CantBatheWithoutAWeapon.
