** In the Japanese version of Yugi and Kaiba's duel in Battle City, Kaiba says he is running on his hatred of his father and Yugi to give him the strength to win and forge his own future. Yami Yugi gives a TheReasonYouSuckSpeech pointing out that hatred is transient and living by it is no way to live before defeating him.

** This is essentially what fuels Tomura Shgaraki aka Tenko Shimura. Hatred for his [[AbusiveParents abusive father]], hatred for [[MommyHadAGoodReasonForAbandoningYou his grandmother Nana]] for leaving him in that household and hatred for the hero society in general for not saving everyone in need, including him. It's this hate that makes him the perfect candidate for becoming All For One's successor, which leads Tomura to brand himself as the Symbol of Chaos.
** [[spoiler:As it turns out, All For One passing on his Quirk to Tomura is meant to serve as a means for him to [[BodySurf take over Tomura's body]] via MergerOfSouls. Not only that, All For One deliberately cultivates Tomura's hatred so that he can overcome One For All's ability to only being passed on if the current user wills it and steal it for himself. When that doesn't prove enough, All For One starts trying to break Izuku's spirit instead, so that the hatred of his copy in Tomura, combined with Tomura's own hatred, will grant him the necessary edge to finally steal One For All. This ends up backfiring when Tomura's hatred is redirected at All For One himself, [[FightingFromTheInside allowing him to overcome his master's control]]. Having no personal interest in stealing One For All, [[CuttingTheKnot Tomura decides to simply destroy it]] by [[NoNonsenseNemesis killing Izuku]], whom he sees as his antithesis.]]

[[spoiler:According to Tobirama, the Sharingan and Mangekyo Sharingan manifest as a form of this and ThePowerOfLove. To be more precise, the Sharigan manifests when someone an Uchiha loves dies or apparently betrays them, causing them to [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge grow increasingly enraged at the world]]. The more the Uchiha in question grows to hate, the more powerful the Sharigan becomes, but also more [[SanitySlippage unstable the user's psyche]]. This is at least one reason why all the important Uchiha we've met are evil (Madara), broken (Itachi) or both (Tobi).]]

** All Might later {{exploit|edTrope}}s All For One's hatred by [[spoiler:[[IShallTauntYou taunting him]] as he tries to head towards Tomura's location so that he can reassert his control over his former protégé by forcibly transferring his copied Quirk to him. All For One is unable to resist his overwhelming hatred for All Might and starts fighting him, wasting most of what precious little time he has left before [[DeathByDeaging the Rewind Bullet de-ages him into nothing]].]]
