* ''Fanfic/AFrozenFlower'': Oprah loved O'Donahue long before they became work partners, but he loved Olga all the way up until her passing. It's never explained why he was in love with an AlphaBitch who turned out to be a thief, but it's clear that Oprah's unrequited love for him bothers her greatly and she hates bringing him up. At one point, when Orchid's ''lambero'' powers make her start hallucinating, she begins having a conversation with O'Donahue about him seemingly cheating on her.

* ''Theatre/AMidsummerNightsDream'' has several human characters falling in love with one another, then out of love and into love with someone else, all at the wrong time, thanks to the fairies using love potions to mess with their already confused relationships for the lols.

* In ''ComicBook/TheLegendOfZeldaALinkToThePast'', Epheremelda seems to have a crush on Link, and blows her stack whenever he ignores her to look for Zelda.

* In ''Webcomic/MyImpossibleSoulmate'', Chiaki is in love with her best friend Fumiko, who just got a boyfriend before she got to confess.

When fans support relationships that involve unrequited love, you're looking at {{Starboarding}}. This may be resolved -- or, alternately, made even more awkward -- if the unrequited [[DidYouThinkICantFeel makes their feelings known]]. The IgnoredEnamoredUnderling may be working under someone ObliviousToLove. Any [[TriangRelations type 2 or type 5]] LoveTriangle falls into this category.

This is the state in which nobody seems to be allowed to reciprocate any romantic interest shown in them; since having some sort of love interest is standard for main characters in particular, this inevitably leads down the path of the LoveDodecahedron. Often, a story will begin with this trope, which then evolves into CleaningUpRomanticLooseEnds and/or a less restrictive sort of Love Dodecahedron. Also, as the series ends, all bets are off; there might be some resolution.

** Happens between [[MinionShipping minions]]. Violetta and Snaug both crush on Moloch, who goes after Sanaa instead, who finds it stupid. However, things seem to change in favor of the Moloch-Snaug pairing.
