* While not ''always'' the case, many protagonists in FirstPersonShooter games (particularly old school ones) can handle a ''lot'' of punishment, only dying after being shot more than enough times to warrant a brutal MultipleGunshotDeath in real life. This is sometimes justified by them having body armour or [[SuperSoldier simply being built different from the normal person]]. Another possible explanation is their health working like ''TabletopGame/DungeonsAndDragons'' Hit Points -- health represents general vitality and to an extent luck; bullets that don't immediately kill you are near-misses and grazing hits, while the bullet that brings your LifeMeter down to zero and does you in, is the one that strikes true when your luck runs out.
