She manages to get permission to make a flower garden instead (which is more sutably feminine), then proceeds to plant vegetable seedlings anyway, claiming with a straight face that she's raising cucumber flowers and eggplant flowers. Sure, they'll grow into vegetables, but they'll be flowers first.
