The Rat-Catcher's Daughter is a romance novelette by KJ Charles. It is a prequel/side story to Any Old Diamonds and Gilded Cage, and focuses on the Lilywhite Boys' fence Stanislav Kamarzyn and his girlfriend Miss Christiana getting together, the early days of their relationship, and some trouble from a very unpleasant London Gangster.

Not to be confused with The Ratcatcher's Daughter by Pamela Rushby.

The Rat-Catcher's Daughter provides examples of:

  • Ambiguously Brown: Christiana has dark hair and eyes, and a "tawny" complexion, but her actual heritage isn't specified except for a brief reference to mixed ancestry.
  • Ambiguously Jewish: Stan. (He's only ever referred to as Polish, with no specifications about his religious background one way or the other, but late 19th century London had a lot of Polish-Jewish immigrants.)
  • The Cavalry: Jerry Crozier and Templeton Lane, which is fortunate, since neither Stan nor Christiana have any particular taste or aptitude for physical violence.
  • Chastity Couple: Stan and Christiana, by their own preference, since they're both asexual.
  • Drag Queen: Christiana earns a living as a music hall singer and female impersonator, although she identifies as a woman offstage as well.
  • London Gangster: Kammy Grizzard, a thoroughly nasty customer.
  • Non-Action Guy: Stan may be a career criminal, but physical confrontations are not his area of expertise.
