The Happening: Cause Of A New World is a 2018 webnovel by Tommy.T, hosted on Booksie. The story takes place on Earth after a mysterious bright blue orb of pure light and energy from an unknown source crashes into Earth in 2028. While the orb did not destroy Earth, it did cause mass mutations in many organisms (including humans), a rapid continental drift and even new types of weather and new chemical elements and substances in a span of 5 years. These five years are known as The Happening. The world before The Happening is dubbed 'Old World', and the world after the 'New World.' 400 years later, the most people still do not know what caused The Happening, theories ranging from the wrath of God or alien terraforming to a natural event that may or may no of happened (no pun intended) before. We soon meet 28 year old Conan Highwoods and quickly find out that the unknown of The Happening is one of 3 reasons to leave his home and go out into the New World.
