Firedrake is the first novel in the Dragonlance series by Richard A. Knaak. It describes the beginning of adventures of Cabe Bedlam, who opposes the Dragon Kings.
This work contains examples of:
- Evil Weapon: The Nameless is an evil sword that takes over the mind of Azran over time.
- Identity Amnesia: Shade generally remembers who he is, but he lost most of his memories from the former life.
- Jekyll & Hyde: Shade is a an interesting variant. In his quest for immortality, he is cursed to alternate between good and evil. Each time he is killed, he always returns from the dead with a new name and an opposite alignment.
- Resurrective Immortality: Shade will always return a couple of days after he is killed. The twist is that he changes alignment between good and evil each time. This has been going on for hundreds of years.
- Weredragon: Dragon Kings can transform from a humanoid form to a dragon.
