They have an intelligence department (Beyniph Osciteck), a security force (Ayew Brogguhn), a science and research division (Eraldo Supryor), a navy and marine corps (Eighinn Stossuhl), and an artillery/armory/weapon manufacturing agency (yes, all of their toys were made by Oroesius Caulhyr).

* DeadlyEuphemism: Auerbach's apparent torture of Ghouls? He calls it ''domestication''.

* FriendlyNeighborhoodVampire: Jameis Winstrum is a fairly pleasant fellow. The only time when he's been remotely violent was when someone attacked his girlfriend.

* BalanceOfPower: According to Wrigley Denecour, [[AntiMagic Skuurnur]]'s very existence has prompted the establishment of a very delicate social order; every other major world power exists to counter Skuurnur's might, which is so vast that a war with them is considered suicide by the leader of one of those major powers.

** There's really no other way to describe Skuurnur. Despite ''looking'' like knights, they're all fairly freaky looking. Eighinn Stossuhl has three eyes, all stacked vertically, which rotate from side to side. The short and stout Ayew Brogguhn has meat mallets for hands. The impossibly skinny Oroesius Caulhyr has forearms modeled after crossbows. Yuehni Siggueir has spiked pauldrons that turn into tentacles and a gaping maw encompassing his stomach. Eraldo Supryor has tentacle-like fingers and legs that are split open. Beyniph Osciteck also has split legs with silver wings at the sides and three black rods trailing down to his feet.

* HumanoidAbomination: Erm... Alice is not your typical Succubus, let's just say. She has long, independent-thinking tendrils protruding from her arms, deathly pale skin, smoke-like darkness manifesting from her shadow-like clothes, razor-sharp fangs beneath her mask, a tornado-like whirlwind of smoke and shadows that engulf an entire city, and the ability to [[MoreThanMindControl indoctrinate]] people by being near them. And that's just in her human form.

* HornyDevil: Alice is a Succubus, and a well-known one at that, with the [[LovableSexManiac attitude]] to boot.

* BareYourMidriff: Kyrie wears an orange crop top that exposes her stomach.

* DarkSkinnedRedhead: Kyrie Dreyvor's most distinguishing characteristic, physically speaking.

* NGOSuperpower: Skuurnur possesses a staggering amount of paramilitary might and resources for a group without a nation. They have an intelligence department (Beyniph Osciteck), a security force (Ayew Brogguhn), a science and research division (Eraldo Supryor), a navy and marine corps (Eighinn Stossuhl), a political group who organizes the bureaucracy (Yuehni Siggueir), and an artillery/armory/weapon manufacturing agency (yes, all of their toys were made by Oroesius Caulhyr).

** Beatrice nu Kahranna initially comes across as a cold military leader with NoSympathy over the refugees in Cessair (because it is her job as a Valkyrie to collect the souls of the dead) and a hardline stance against Alice Sitchri. When pressed about it, Kahranna admits that she thinks Alice is responsible for the Valkyries' inability to take the souls of the dead in places where she shows up. The reason she wanted war with Skuurnur was so she could determine if these isolated incidents weren't emblematic of a ''species-wide extinction event'' (implying that a Valkyrie who can't collect souls defeats the purpose of being a Valkyrie). Eventually, she's forced to back down, authorizes her colleagues to stand at the ready in the event of a spillover, and conducts her own investigation over the soul-stealing.

* MonstrousHumanoid: Nyurei Arihiku is a tall, lean creature with jet-black skin, red outline around his skin, an EyelessFace, an elongated head, and skin-less mouth. Justified in that he is a demon, but it's still fairly jarring.
