Heartwarming / You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown

Go To

  • The title song shows how much the kids and Snoopy love Charlie Brown. They sing a song of his praises, even Lucy despite her Backhanded Compliment about how he has some faults but she won't talk about them. The Broadway staging goes further by Snoopy following the school bus to the campus, gifts Charlie Brown his supper bowl as a temporary crown, and waves him goodbye when the tardy bell rings. Awwwwwww.
  • Everyone gets into Beethoven Day, inspired by Schroeder's enthusiasm. Lucy attempts to suck up to Schroeder by saying she wants to help with the publicity. In defiance of his usual attitude, Schroeder thanks her.
  • Charlie Brown confesses to Lucy that he’s always wanted to be called “Flash.” Predictably, she gives him a hard time about this. Later on, the gang is about to win a big baseball game, and the final victory is resting in Charlie Brown’s hands. Lucy gives Charlie Brown a pep talk and, to give him an extra confidence boost, calls him by his desired nickname: “Got it, Flash?” They still end up losing the game, but it was a sweet gesture nonetheless.
  • After Lucy's "crabbiness survey" makes her realize just how crabby everyone thinks she is, she becomes depressed and tells Linus that she has no reason to go on living. But Linus replies that she has one reason: she has a little brother who loves her. Lucy cries and Linus remarks "Every now and then I say the right thing." (Inspired by this strip, but with a different context.)
  • Schroeder takes the time to try and explain how philosophies work for Sally. It doesn't work but shows what a Cool Big Bro he can be.
  • "Happiness," which is all about appreciating the little things in life. And at the end, Lucy approaches Charlie Brown, gives him a friendly handshake, and with total sincerity and no trace of her earlier Backhanded Compliments, she assures him "You're a good man, Charlie Brown."
