Heartwarming / Unity (Finmonster)

Go To

These are some of the most heartwarming moments in Unity. Spoilers unmarked!

  • The Big Hero 9 is still very close, and has arguably grown closer since they started acting as heroes. They've even begun taking interest in each other's hobbies, with GoGo reading her way through Fred's comic collection and the guys all having a video game night.
  • Hiro and Riley's relationship has only grown stronger over the last few months, with the two calling each other boyfriend and girlfriend.
  • Tip and Riley's friendship is one long heartwarming moment.
  • GoGo and Wasabi are still dating, and clearly in love (it's even implied that the two are living together).
  • The fact that the excitable, energetic Lucy Wilde and the mysterious, former right-hand-woman of Syndrome are best friends and coworkers. Lucy is willing to defend Mirage at a moment's notice if she feels her friend is being disrespected.
  • Megamind essentially fanboying over Doctor Cockroach.
  • The fact that Bob/Mr. Incredible is so excited to begin legal hero work again (even if he deflates a little due to working with Megamind).
  • Violet's and Fred's relationship, and how quickly the Big Hero 9 brings her into their friend group.
  • Rather than simply imprison them like the Gorg and Smek, the government (upon learning that they were slaves who had no choice in the matter) has declared the Boov refugees, and is letting them stay at Area 51 in exchange for them showing government scientists how to construct Boov technology. What's more, several scientists and Boov have been raising the Gorg babies, which is completely adorable.
  • Stan and Joan's willingness to support and help Big Hero 9 however they can.
  • Honey Lemon and Susan bonding at the club, with the two of them giving (edited) stories about their love lives.
  • How quickly the four teams (minus Mr. Incredible and Megamind) get along and are willing to work together.
  • Bob ending his personal vendetta against Megamind when he learns that his turn to good is honest, and that he didn't kill Metro Man or intend for the incident with Titan. They noticeably get along better afterward.
  • How did B.O.B. break Mezmerella's hold on Riley? He got in between them because he wanted to ask Riley if she was okay.
  • The government not only contacted Riley's parents, Cass, and Lucy Tucci after the fight, but let them in so they could see and comfort their kids after the traumatic fight. Not to mention flying Joan Lieber (someone Big Hero 9 knew and trusted) to the base to treat them.
  • Roxanne going out of her way to come see Megamind after the battle, even though he wasn't injured, just to check on him and give him a little advice.
  • Megamind is quick to help Hiro repair Baymax, and does his best to be supportive of the kid, even letting them share a lab at the Home Base. He admits that this is because he can see a lot of himself in Hiro, and is worried about him going down the wrong path.
  • The genuine respect and friendship that Megamind has with Gru, to the point that (with a hint), Gru can tell it's him even with the disguise.
  • Riley and Tip don't know Gru's daughters at all, but the second they hear that Margo is in trouble, they spring into action. Riley beats up the bullies effortlessly with her tai chi moves, and only uses her powers once to make sure that the bullies won't try anything like that again.
  • The cranky Dr. Nefario (who convinced Gru to temporarily give up the girls in the movie) is completely willing to let Margo hide in his lab when she's having a breakdown, and tries to cover for her when Riley comes looking for her.
  • Oh's whole reason for going with Monger to Area 51? He knows that Tip is feeling useless due to the fact that she doesn't have weapons, skills, or powers like the rest of the team, and enlists the help of the other Boov so he can build something for her.
  • Dr. Cockroach shutting down Dr. Nefario when he accidentally insults Honey Lemon, then complimenting her abilities as a chemist (even expressing disgust at the fact that some scientists his age believe that women don't belong in labs). Barely five minutes later, he comforts Susan when she's wrestling with her feelings for Honey, even coming out to her via telling her about how he lost his boyfriend to war.
  • Despite the fact that they were enemies in the past (with Nefario blaming Excelsior for the death of his son), Stan Lieber and Joseph Nefario promptly bury the hatchet when they reunite, agreeing to work together for the greater good.
  • Fred is so eager to make a good impression on Violet's parents (who are also famous superheroes and his new teammates) that he goes out of his way to dress up when they invite him over (even though it was a simple barbeque and he didn't really need to dress up). Also, the fact that the Parr family already approves of Fred and welcome him warmly (with Bob and Helen even revealing their superhero origin stories to him).
  • Fred offering to join the team of Helen, Violet, and Doc to rescue Jack-Jack.
