- The entire story begins with Turgon and Finrod digging a Hobbit-hole for Frodo and Sam. They mange to enlist a good third of the nearby elven population to help, and have mostly finished within a day.
- Fingon's determination to find Maedhros, even when no longer sure if he loves him, because as he says, he wouldn't leave his worst enemy in the Void.
- Fingon realising that yes, he does still love Maedhros.
- The epilogue, where Elros, Eluréd and Elurín all leave together. Aww.
