Heartwarming / Surviving Mars

Go To

  • The game itself is very steeped in the hope for a better future:
    • When the first child is born on Mars, the narrator calls it a unique miracle, remarking how the colonists have always felt like a family, but now there's a child, the possibility of a hope for humanity outside of Earth, and the very real implication that through ingenuity, Mars can be made to sustain life.
    • If you're a bit sentimental about one of mankind's most ambitious scientific dreams (which you probably are if you're playing this game), things like the first rainfall on Mars, or the first tree growing on Martian soil, are liable to choke you up a bit. These moments alone justify buying the Green Planet DLC.
  • During her broadcast on Official Mars Radio, host Panem Eskalane will sometimes receive letters from her listeners. One letter meanwhile comes from her old astrophysics professor on Earth, who is delighted that she is now part of the Martian project. He also offers her a place on the university faculty should she ever return to Earth. Panem is audibly moved to tears by the letter, and quickly plays the next song. Doubles with Tear Jerker.
