The friendships between the girls, both from those in the same company and those who first met on the show, are extremely evident throughout the series, and even when they have to compete against each other. During lighter segments, the girls mess around and laugh together and tease each other. When someone is crying because of stress or because the performance didn't go well, the other girls are always quick to comfort her and offer support or joke around to lighten the mood.
Many of the girls said that at the beginning they never expected to make so many good friends on the show. It's especially touching when you realize that although they are rivals, they all have the same goal of debuting and being able to keep singing and dancing on bigger stages in the future.
The mentors are very warm towards the girls and provide lots of guidance, and though they don't mince words when describing the difficulties of succeeding, you can tell that they want the girls to shine onstage and find success in their future careers.
Episode 2
When the F class enters their training room for the first time, there is an easel with writing on it which reads, "F is only temporary. Don't give up on yourselves. If you work hard, you will be noticed. Don't worry, I'm here!"
After the re-evaluations, all but one of the original F class moves up, reinforcing this promise that hard work will yield solid results.
Mimi has to leave temporarily to resolve a visa issue, which means that she only has one day to practice the Pick Me dance compared to the three days the other trainees have. Kimberley and Lucia both skip A class practice in order to help her learn the moves.
When Mimi subsequently moves up to A class and Kimberley and Lucia drop to B class as a result of their performances during the reevaluation, Mimi says that if she had a choice to stay in B class with her two friends, she would choose to do so.
Episode 3
When the girls are released to choose which team they will perform with from the talented or the diligent centers, most of them go immediately for the talented ones. A few trainees, however, go straight for the diligent centers because they know that those teams will need their skills the most. Meiyun, the leader of S.I.N.G, goes to support Aojuan, who has no leadership experience. Ruiqi, a main dancer, goes to support Xiaocao, who can sing but not dance. Junyi, an A class trainee, goes to help Tiantian, an F class trainee.
Kimberley is forced to battle against the team containing both of her best friends. After her team's victory is announced, she runs across the stage to give them both a big hug and apologize for it.
Chiao Manting has an old knee injury flare up during training that prevents her from being able to walk. Rather than cut her out of the performance entirely, the group modifies the choreography so that she can sit on a chair and sing while the others dance around her.
Episode 4
Before eliminations are announced, the girls are given the opportunity to do photoshoots with each other. The original members of F class gather together and return to their old practice room and reread the motivating writing on the easel, and then take a group picture together.
Zining expresses worry about not being able to talk to everyone and become their friends before they are eliminated. Xiaoyu encourages her to approach the people she never had the chance to talk to before.
Once Zining gathers up the courage to approach the girls, Wu Xiaoxuan admits that she admired Zining from the start, but couldn't bring herself to approach her since Zining was in A class and she was in D class. Xiaoxuan takes Zining out into the hallways and gives her a folded heart as a parting gift.
It's heartwarming just how genuinely supportive the girls are for each other when each person who made it through eliminations is announced. Every time, as soon as their name is said, the other girls around her will jump up and hug her and congratulate her on making it to the next round. And once she steps onto the pyramid, those who are already there will give her a hug too. It gets to the point where the girls are running around the set to congratulate their friends who made it in.
Some of the girls who got eliminated promise their friends that they will vote for them once they get home.
It's a blink and you'll miss it moment, but Gao Qiuzi and Xu Mengjie actually got off the pyramid so they could sit with Han Dan and comfort her after she was eliminated.
Episode 6
During her team's practice, Xuanyi is told that her dancing isn't good enough and that she should give the center role to someone else. It's not highlighted at all, but when she is crying and her team is comforting her afterwards, Meiqi is also there.
Zhao Yaoke decides that rather than have herself be center as was originally planned, the center role will be split evenly among her team members so they all have a chance to showcase themselves onstage, since there's a high chance they will be eliminated after this round.
Episode 9
All the girls are genuinely grateful for the support they have gotten from their fans throughout the show. In many cases, it propelled them from being relatively unknown wannabe idols to being trending topics on social media with millions of votes. Here, they thank their fans again for the support, and for being able to hype them up onstage.
Zining: "No matter what the size of the stage is, or not even on the stage, even in a small corner, as long as you guys like it, I will always sing for you."
