• Jay and Max's relationship with each other. From how Jay initially developed feelings for Max after her carried her back to the Inn when she accidentally got injured. To how much they still support and look out for each other. There's also their adorable and at times awkward interactions even after they are a couple. That they are one of the healthiest and strongest relationships definitely helps

• Hawk's growing friendships with both Max and Jay. Despite constantly saying she doesn't need friends she slowly grows to trust them both. Soon she grows to care about the whole group forming sisterly bonds with the other girls. She never loses her snark but there's is now a degree of genuine affection behind her comments.

• When everyone comes together to celebrate Jay's birthday, truly showing they've all become True Companions after running for their lives in the 1st book.

• Max is overjoyed to discover Riku is his sister having thought all his family dead. Even though Riku appears to hate him he still tries to connect with her.

• Riku is shocked when she is Easily Forgiven for her previous role as The Mole and being forced to work for Teal again.
