Heartwarming / Last Night in Soho

Go To

  • Edgar Wright's tribute to Diana Rigg. Doubles as a Tear Jerker.
  • Ellie saying goodbye to her mother's ghost when she leaves for London at the beginning of the film.
  • It's sweet how protective Ellie is over Sandie during her visions. Even if Sandie can't see, hear, or feel her, Ellie still tries to help her.
    • When Sandie is in her dressing room and breaks her mirror in a fit of rage but accidentally cuts her hand, Ellie's first instinct is to place her hands on Sandie's shoulders as if asking "Are you okay?"
    • Shortly afterwards, when one of Jack's associates attempts to rape an unconscious Sandie in her bed, Ellie screams at him to leave her alone.
    • In the club, after Sandie refuses the gentleman's help to get her out of the industry she's ended up trapped in, Ellie bangs on the glass and furiously begs Sandie to look at her, before managing to break through the glass and throw her arms around her.
    • When Ellie gets another vision of Jack attempting to murder Sandie, she screams at him to get off her, although at this point all she can do is scream in terror as her 60s idol is (seemingly) brutally murdered.
    • When Sandie tries to kill Ellie because she knows too much, the ghosts of Sandie's Asshole Victims show up to beg Ellie to kill her and avenge them. Despite what Sandie is trying to do to her, Ellie still feels empathy for her and remains on her side, bluntly refusing to satisfy the ghosts' thirst for revenge.
    • When Sandie has her My God, What Have I Done? realization and begins slashing her own throat, Ellie knocks the knife away and embraces Sandie, begging her to live. Sandie is moved and tells her to escape the burning building with John, though Sandie herself chooses to remain and die.
  • The ending, specifically when Sandie appears in the mirror and seems to approve of Ellie's successful fashion show. Then Ellie reciprocates the attention by smilingly walking up to her and tapping the mirror at the same time as her.
