Episode 1 - Contact
- Halsey, once again, is extremely caring to the Spartans. Her conversation with the Master Chief after the mission sounds less like a superior giving a debriefing and more like a mother making sure her son is all right. As always, she's the only one to always call her Spartans by name.
- Once the Master Chief realizes there's a kill order out on Kwan, he immediately starts disabling the ship's systems before the UNSC can force the issue.
- Half the base is mobilized to stop the Master Chief, including Silver Team. Halsey intercepts them and informs them that they are to protect him at all costs instead.Riz: Engage friendlies, ma'am?
Vannak: If they go after Chief, they're not friendlies. Correct, Dr. Halsey?
Halsey: Correct. - As the Marines prepare to breach the hatch into Chief's condor, the Spartans take up a Back-to-Back Badasses stance, ready to protect Chief from the entire defensive force. Only Chief activating the artifact prevents the scenario from playing out.
Episode 2 - Unbound
- Soren's son tags John with a little smiley ink blotter; Soren, embarrassed, says it's his "mark," that it means John can rely on him and vice versa. John solemnly gets down, looks him in the eye, and says he accepts. Later, he glances at it a few times, and it's implied to be part of the reason he returned to the UNSC—because the weapon the Covenant are looking for is a threat to everyone.
- John intends to return to Reach to warn them about what the Covenant are searching for, but he still makes sure Soren will look after Kwan.
Episode 4 - Homecoming
- Miranda has brought in the other Spartans to test what makes John special compared to him. Vannak simply responds "He's the Master Chief," a matter-of-fact declaration about why they follow him.
- Kai senses Miranda doesn't like the Spartans, so she defends her comrades by explaining their skills and contributions.
- After the other Spartans leave, Kai stays to help Miranda analyze Covenant recordings, and the two reflect on how they're sort of like sisters, due to their mutual connection to Doctor Halsey.
Episode 5 - Reckoning
- During the Covenant attack on Eridanus, Halsey notices Miranda struggling to get to the ship with a wounded UNSC troop. Acting on pure (previously unrealized) maternal instinct, she rushes out onto the battlefield to help her daughter.
- Kai is overwhelmed and nearly killed during the battle, causing Chief to go into a blind rage, fighting his way to her and beating an Elite to death.
Episode 8 - Allegiance
- While Riz and Vannak are focused on some projects, they discuss how well Kai is recovering from her injuries. Cut to Kai hanging out with regular marines where they are taking bets on how much she can lift on a pulley system, and it escalates to a warthog with people inside cheering her on. She has progressed from an unfeeling, isolated soldier into One of the Guys and so much more engaged with life.
