Heartwarming / Captain Marvel (Marvel Comics)

Go To

  • For as much of a Tear Jerker as it was, The Death of Captain Marvel was absolutely littered with these, up to and including the Skrull Empire, bitter enemies of both Mar-Vell's people the Kree and his adopted homeworld of Earth, sending a general to visit him on his death bed in order to present him with a medal, commending him for his bravery and military accomplishments that he performed as his enemy. Even Thanos pays Mar-Vell one last visit to honor him (in his own way) before his death.
  • In the plus-size issue following Enemy Within and the Infinity tie-ins, Carol spends part of the story promising Kit, the young daughter of her former neighbour who has serious Hero Worship for Carol, that they'd have 'Captain Marvel lessons', Carol tries to tell Kit that she can't teach her 'how to be Captain Marvel' since she herself no longer knows, thanks to her recent memory loss. Kit, however, tells Carol that she got her confused; Kit is going to teach Carol about being Captain Marvel so she can regain control of her life. She may have lost her memory, but Kit will not give up on Captain Marvel.
  • The entirety of Helen Cobb's letter to Carol is wonderful, but the last section in particular is very heartwarming.
"We're gonna get where we're going, you and me. Death and indignity be damned. We'll get there, and we will be the stars we were always meant to be."
  • Her relationship with Tracy Burke, who is often called Carol's mother despite the two being unrelated. When Tracy dies there is a whole comic dedicated to it and her relationship with Carol.
  • In the aftermath of the Skrull Invasion, everyone looks at Spider-Woman with suspicion. Carol was the only one who approached her and gave her a hug of relief.
  • Tries to do the same for the recently returned Scarlet Witch taking her back to the Avengers mansion but The Vision meets them at the door and proceeds to give a "The Reason You Suck" Speech to Wanda that drives her off in tears.
  • Triples as Heartwarming and a Moment of Awesome, but two of the women Carol teamed up with when she found herself stranded in World War II went on to create a comic strip titled "Captain Marvelous."
  • Despite having serious issues with Rogue, they share a nice moment at the end of Contest Of Champions II. Carol (in the Warbird persona by then) saves Rogue from the Brood Queen. When Rogue, in the aftermath, points that, given their past issues, Carol could have killed Rogue or left her behind, Carol answers that, having been part of Search and Rescue in the past, she has No One Gets Left Behind as a principle. Although Carol still doesn't properly like Rogue, she recognizes the latter as a hero and shows respect and trust. They share a handshake.
Carol: What's between us can't be undone... but perhaps, it can be forgiven.
    • In another story involving the Brood (Captain Marvel #49), Carol suffers a severe case of Power Incontinence that threatens enemies and allies alike. Rogue offers to absorb Carol's excess of power (asking the latter's permisson, this time). Carol agrees, the incontinence is stabilized, everyone is saved... all while Carol and Rogue share a hug.
  • Carol welcoming Genis-Vell after he’s returned to life. He’s confused and amnesiac but she tries her best to fill him in, promising to tell him more after the current crisis is settled and shakes his hand. It’s doubly heartwarming to have the current Captain Marvel personally welcoming a divisive past one that had been gone for almost 16 years.
