It's undeniable that this fanfic is an incredibly sad story, but within the dark times are also shining beacons of love and recovery.
- The fact that the Justice League instantly take Ben in, both as a thank-you for helping during the Thanagarian invasion and because he's just lost everything/everyone he'd ever had.
- Ben's relationship with the League as a whole. It's stated once or twice that they all see him as a little brother.
- The Kents welcoming Ben with open arms and allowing him to stay at their farm and give him some time to grieve.
- Ben and Kara's friendship-turned-romance is never not adorable.
- Most tellingly, the fact that while Ben admits he'll always have a place in his heart that loves Julie, he states that it doesn't mean he can't make room for someone else love as much. It's this moment that triggers the Big Damn Kiss between Ben and Kara.
- Even as a married couple, Ben wonders how he managed to earn the love of someone as wonderful as her.
- On a related note, the wedding itself. Two people who'd lost everything manage to find solace and love in one another, and the union between them is as sweet as can be.
- Batman spending several days creating a new identity for Ben, even buying him a house and giving him money (twenty million, to be exact). Batman's reasoning is that while both he and Ben had lost their families, Ben doesn't have the same support that he got when his parents were murdered, and is more than willing to Give Him a Normal Life if that's Ben's wish. It's one of the biggest reminders that Batman is more than capable of great compassion, and is an All-Loving Hero underneath his dark persona.
- Diana's response to Ben's resolve to continue being a hero is pride in him, thinking to herself that any Amazon would be proud to fight alongside him.
- Diana and Kara staying with Ben for a few days after his exposure to Black Mercy, showing that they'll be there for him no matter what.
- Ben's reunion with his grandmother, the only biological family he has left, and also their reconciliation, when Verdona swears that she'll never ignore him ever again.
- His reunion with Ship at the same time is even sweeter, given that he believed that he'd died, and the meeting between the Galvanic Machamorph and Kara forms a bond between them that is just as adorable.
- The fact that Ben is one the Justice League members who still saw Hawkgirl as a hero, no matter what she'd done, and welcomes her back to the Watchtower with open arms.
- Ben being trusted enough to be given one of the second-highest rankings in the League, with only the founding members being higher.
- The various romances formed in the League.
- The Ultimen receive a much happier ending: the Ultimatrix saves their lives, and then Verdona brings them to Ben's home universe, where they join the Plumbers and become the heroes they always wanted to be (minus Long Shadow, who joins the League as he always wanted).
- Ben's eventual reunion with the Plumbers, who are all relieved and overjoyed to see him again.
