  • Ralphie's reunion with Flick and Schwartz at Flick's Tavern. The trio immediately embraces when Ralphie reveals his presence and sit down to raise a toast to the Old Man, whom Flick calls "the best".
  • One of the things Julie asks Santa for? A radiator for a '66 Plymouth, like Ralph said he needed at the start of the film. Later, she successfully bargains one away from the Bumpus kid and presents it to Ralph for Christmas. The kid's looking out for her old man just like Ralphie did for his.
  • During Ralphie's search for a new star for the tree, he's arrested by none other than Scut Farkus, now a cop. Ralphie fully expects to be in hot water... only for Farkus to just drive him home. Turns out the beating Ralphie gave him made Farkus have a change of heart.
    • Scut explaining why he behaved the way he did.
      Scut: I was just trying to be a tough guy, you know? Like my old man.
  • The ending. Ralphie, encouraged by his family, sits in his father's chair and begins reading the story of the Old Man, as in the opening of the original movie. Even more sweeter is how the narration eventually transitions into the original movie and Jean Shepherd's voice, bringing a sense of nostalgia to everyone who watched the first one.
  • Ralphie overcomes his writer's block immediately once he catches a glimpse of his old Red Ryder BB gun sitting packed away in the attic, and at that point he knows exactly what kind of story he wants to share with the community about his Old Man: The best Christmas he ever gave to the Parker family.
    • And his wife sending the story to the newspaper, which gets syndicated.
  • How does Ralphie get Randy to hop on a plane and come home? By lying to him that their mom's not doing well. He may be a successful globetrotting businessman, but he's still his mama's little piggy.
