Headscratchers / The Purge (2018)

Go To

  • SERIES - who moves Andy to the elevator in season 2? Does he move himself or has someone put him there? Why?
  • If the series shows that NFFA America really is a police state with Orwellian survelliance and near-total control over the media, how was Senator Roan ever able to get anywhere near as close to getting elected in the third movie?
    • With the Purge supporters either exterminating each other or becoming disillusioned with the Purge, they will eventually fall into a minority.
      • But if the NFFA have as much control over the American bureaucracy and media as it would take to cover up all extra-purge crime, it wouldn't matter if their supporters are a minority; they could just have Senator Roan assassinated any day of the year and write it off as a suicide or unrelated murder. Or even better, have sham elections, like real nations run by oligarchs do.
  • If the series shows that, in order to preserve all purge statistics, the NFFA covers up all extra-purge crime, to the point a random frat-boy can get away with murder, how has society not just collapsed into anarchy or near anarchy all year round? Sure, the police still exist and will probably shoot back if you shoot at them, and the NFFA might send the army once cartels start storming city halls (though it'd be out of character; they otherwise aren't depicted as pragmatic, and why would criminals even want to attack a government that's keeping the lights on, but isn't interfering in their operations?), but actual criminals would quickly, through trial and error, figure out they can steal, extort, rape and kill and organize with all but impunity, and the U.S. would go the way of Somalia.
