  • In "Hi-Def Jam," why did asking about the return policy preclude Doug from buying the TV? When he was asked if he was going to bring it back after the Super Bowl, why didn't he just say, "No, I just would like to know in case anything goes wrong?"
  • It seems that Carrie and Kelly must have lost track of each other after high school, then were reunited after Doug joined Deacon at IPS?
  • Who is Jake, the groom in "Flash Photography"? He's not just a softball buddy of Deacon and Doug, because Doug's mom is at the wedding. Maybe a boyhood friend of Doug's, or even a relative?
    • It's explicitly stated that Doug and Deacon know Jake from softball, and the bride is a friend of Carrie's. The bigger question is why is Doug's mom there?
    • This troper just assumed that the wedding was on a weekend Doug's mom decided to visit. Or maybe Doug's dad had a train convention and she took advantage of the free time.
  • Why was it so difficult for Doug and Carrie to talk to Doug's parents in "Ovary Action?" They knew that Doug and Carrie were trying to conceive, and Carrie's defective ovary was a legitimate medical issue. There was nothing dirty or shameful about any of this, and the elder Heffernans were perfectly understanding when Doug and Carrie finally told them. Was Doug under the impression that his parents didn't know where babies come from?
    • General awkwardness in talking to parents about those matters. Additionally, some couples do not like to discuss fertility issues due to not wanting to give people expectations of a baby coming along in case nothing happens.
  • Did none of the stores or credit card companies eventually catch on to Carrie's scam in "Clothes Encounter?" You'd think all of those purchases being refunded to her credit card certainly would've raised some eyebrows, and the customer service reps at Prada would've gotten to know her pretty quickly.
  • Was it intentional for Carrie to not have consistent friends? When Kelly left Deacon for Alias, that showed they were friends because of their husbands. Any other friend of Carrie's over the series was a one off or at the law firm she got fired from. She was mean to Holly more often than not, so they weren't friends either.
    • Kelly and Carrie were referred to as best friends on numerous occasions. I’m not sure why you think anything in the show disproved that. Kelly simply moved away, so Carrie couldn’t see her as often. As for other friends, Doug showed himself to be rather jealous and spiteful whenever Carrie spent too much time with others.
  • Why does this show have so many continuity issues? In s9, it's revealed that Doug and Carrie could apparently afford a Manhattan apartment as newlyweds and international adoptions, yet over the course of the series: they couldn't afford a second home like Deacon and Kelly, they couldn't afford a replacement car, they had to borrow money from Doug's parents for home repairs, they wanted to use Arthur's winnings for a new fridge...just a sampling of examples. Not to mention there are are at least three different how-they-met stories.
  • Likely Seasonal Rot, but could they not have designed a better set for that Manhattan apartment that Doug and Carrie separated over in s9? Nothing about that apartment makes sense for a couple a decade into their marriage and a non-Manhattan lifestyle, in-laws and friends that frequently visit, and coupled with non-sensical dialogue, it just made Carrie seem as unreasonable, spiteful, and status-hungry as ever.
  • In Steve Moscow (s5/18), Steve Bazarovich the mould contractor identifies as Russian but also states he's from Kyiv. As far as I can follow (up to a point), the relevant dialogue is in Russian and not in Ukrainian. I'm assuming the distinction didn't matter very much in 2003, and at that time it was all "used to be the USSR". This jars slightly in 2024. I'm wondering if anyone with a deeper perception of these things could check out the episode for accuracy?
