  • It's indicated that Lily inherited her powers from her biological mother Nancy, but the original film implied that Nancy, Rochelle and Bonnie were leeching off the only actual witch, Sarah, as it wasn't until she joined the coven that their powers manifested. Sarah also bound Nancy's powers at the end of the film.
    • Early scenes in Legacy make a lot of the fact that all four corners need to be present for a coven to have power. While 2nd gen witches may have natural ability, the power in the coven comes from the ability to call the corners and is a separate source of power. This would also reinforce the sequel's focus on the idea that women are stronger together rather than doomed to devolve into infighting as they do in the original.
    • If I remember correctly from the original film, the three not-Sarah witches did have powers—not as much power as Sarah, and definitely not as much power as all four of them together, but some—but Nancy was bound and Manon revoked Bonnie and Rochelle's powers after they abused them. So if Nancy still has her power but is bound, it's feasible she could pass it on to her children.
    • It's also worth noting that the plot point about the girls leeching off Sarah's power was only in the first draft of the script and isn't mentioned in the final film.
    • My take on it is they did leech off Sarah (the magic only really began once she joined the coven). But then Nancy was granted power by Manon, remember? And in the end she was bound, not stripped of it. It's possible that she's still unable to use it herself but could pass it to her daughter. Bonnie and Rochelle, on the other hand, never got past the "leeching" phase (first off Sarah, then off Nancy), so they eventually lost everything even though they were not specifically bound by Sarah.
  • When would Nancy ever have had a child? She was locked away in a mental institution and far as I remember she’d have no one to visit her.
    • Word of God says that she was raped while she was a patient.
