  • What year is the final scene of the movie supposed to be set in? Several entries on the page refer to it taking place in or around 1920, and I know that the novel was published in 1920, but in-story that date doesn't add up. The main plot takes place in the 1870s, and in the final scene Archer is stated to be 57. If the scene was taking place in 1920, this would make Archer 16 in 1879, when he's obviously a good decade older than that at the beginning of the movie.
    • At least in the film, the final scene could take place in the early 1910s. The fashions and aesthetics shown in the environment and background characters points to that decade, rather than 1920, and Archer being 57 in the early 1910s would be consistent with him being in his 20s in the late 1870s.
