• T'Pril states no human could have performed the rituals....in the presence of Amanda, who surely must have done them herself when she married Sarek?
  • She’s a racist jerk and Amanda has the patience of a saint.
  • The V'Shal ritual seems to be the final touch of a marriage contract between Vulcan families; reading a bit between the lines, it may be possible for families to agree to forgo it, or use a different form, and it may not even apply for a marriage with a human.
• Was the Kerkhovian world in the Vulcan system? Surely at some point in their history they would have investigated such a bizarre phenomenon already.
  • Ortegas says she can't contact the Enterprise as it is more than a light year away, so Vulcan isn't close (per se). Also, it is stated, the moon is on the far side of the sector.
  • In addition it is mentioned to be a recently detected phenomenon, theorized to be related to recent sunspot activity.
