• Why would Flutterby the winged horse have died a relatively short time after giving birth if she had remained among the mortal horses?

• Patti Caterpillar’s mother is a grown-up caterpillar (an oxymoron in the real world. A caterpillar is by definition an immature form and only fully-developed butterflies can reproduce). We never see her pupating, so did she do so before Patti did and if so, how did Patti manage without her? When did they part and will they ever meet again?

• Did young Morgan really survive? He had to go to a land of dreams and make-believe. Does that mean that he only lives on in one’s imagination?
